Imagine your blood sugar as the fuel gauge in your car. When it’s within the normal range, your body’s engine (cells) purrs smoothly, using glucose (sugar) from your food for energy. But when the gauge swings too high or too low, trouble ensues.

PREDIABETES: THE AMBER ALERT

  • Think of prediabetes as the “amber alert” of blood sugar.
  • It’s a stage where your blood sugar levels are higher than normal, but not yet high enough for a diabetes diagnosis.
